"Recycling and the environment in vehicle design is something often promoted but seldom communicated beyond a hybrid sticker
or percentages quoted in a brochure. In a market where a substantial amount of people want to be seen looking after the environment,
exploring recycled materials in a unique and more prominent way seems a logical direction to take.So how can a recycled vehicle stand
out from the rest? The vehicles chosen to represent the concept
are in sharp contrast to one another. Firstly, the Lada reflects young users already well aware of environmental and design issues. They’re
buying second-hand clothes, enjoying recycled toilet paper and, while the rest of the world is buying an ipod, they’ll stay away from mass
brands. In contrast the Maserati points to older, more affluent consumers who want the luxury and racing heritage of the brand but also want to express green credentials. The distinct contrast between
the cars is shown in the selection of materials: bold colours and textures dominate the Lada while those in the Maserati have
a more natural feel, using layers to give it a sense of depth." |
