"Car capers
To meet my growing appreciation of the intimate yet complex relationship between user and product, this project sets out to
revolutionise both how cars are put together, and how to advance the connection between subject and object. It became apparent to me that appropriation could be occurring simply because individuals
cannot find the product truly reflective of themselves in the marketplace. For this reason I wanted to enable the user to have a creative participation in the ‘design’ of their personal transportation. I looked at some examples of how the toys and games of our youth have provided us with a toolkit to create something to our personal tastes. A game called ‘Car Capers,’ which I played during childhood, provided a great deal of inspiration for the system employed in the
concept. I found it intriguing how pieces from different sets could be combined to create cars in a manner far removed from the actual object of the game. " |
