Daniel Kafka – UK

"Everlast
This is a concept that proposes a multi-generational vehicle, ever renewable instead of disposable or recycled. In this respect it is more optimally environmentally efficient. Providing the primary inspiration
for my concept is the ‘teddy bear factor’ - the notion that you
don’t discard objects that connect you to your childhood. Passengers that inhabit the vehicle are exposed to projections of family history
on the wall cavities (possible through personal ‘black-box’ technology). Enjoying early life growing up in the womb-like environment, a child’s earliest experiences and associations are fostered by the vehicle. Emotional bonds are formed between the
owners and the vehicle, and it becomes more likely to be retained and is further inherited by the next generation. Observing nature, aesthetically the vehicle is based on notions of ‘organic essentialism’ - what is not, necessary is not there. It is also constructed using biology as metaphor – the cabin is the brain, in which the memories are housed and projected; the chassis is bone, with ligament
fibres feeding off into the wheels, pulling and contracting for steering, with a surrounding layer of protective tissue."
