"Before taking my Masters in vehicle design at the Royal College of Art I spent two years in Japan working for design studios, where we were encouraged to take inspiration from Japanese animation in order to create car design. It was in Tokyo where I met the creators of the
Ghost in the Shell who encouraged me to take up work as a production designer. Once at the RCA, I had an opportunity to work for the BBC, as a concept designer creating the set, vehicle
and character design for a science-fiction series.
For my project I decided to create a whole world showing a not-so-distant future, telling the story surrounding my vehicle. I teamed up with film director Yoaf Parish in order to show the world in a short movie, realised in the form of a digital animation. My model is being made in Hong Kong in collaboration with a company specialised
in the manufacturing of ‘Manga-Style’ figurines." |
